Classical Field Theory
"God used beautiful mathematics in creating the world." Dirac
Classical field theories, such as Maxwell's electromagnetism and Einstein's general theory of relativity, are among the greatest accomplishements of the human mind. They combine in a unique way mathematical elegance and experimental accuracy. If you want to know what these theories are about, then take this course.
You will not only learn about electromagnetism and general relativity, but also about the scalar field that models the Higgs boson and the theory of spinors discovered by Dirac — the classical fields that describe the fundamental building blocks of nature.
As prerequisites for this course, you need a basic knowledge of classical mechanics and electromagnetism. Acquaintance with differential geometry concepts, even though not necessary, may be useful.

I have more than 20 years of experience helping physics students and professionals understand the mathematics of physics.
I received my Bachelor's degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela, then I went to study particles physics in Paris (MSc) and string theory in Rome (PhD). Afterwards, I carried out research at the Albert Einstein Institute for Gravitational Physics in Golm (Germany), the International Center for Theoretical Physics in Trieste (Italy), the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics in Beijing (China), and the London School of Economics (UK).
